The long awaited Zombies!? post.
What's up with zombies?
Why do people like them?
What's it to me?
Alright, I like the idea of zombies.
I like the idea of a zombie apocalypse.
Why?
Let's face it.
Although we lean towards structure and organization-
We as human beings, are always drawn to conflict.
We have let violence establish a foothold in the world we live in.
Look at all the hate in this world.

If we were to live in a world full of zombies...

Survival.
That's when the primal nature in all of us would get released.
Uninhibited by social norms.
Our true selves.
What am I talking about?
I'm talking about whether or not you'd throw the person closest to you under the bus to save your skin.
Whether or not you'd let the inherent human greed take over.
Whether or not you'd defy expectations and fight the good fight.
Well- when shit hits the fan, I suppose you'll realize what type of person you really are.
Maybe, just maybe - realizing that the "real" monsters aren't zombies, but actually humans.
I agree with what you said about our true selves, it really comes out when put in those situations. Last night I went to a fake zombie apocalypse event (similar to lazer tag mixed with a haunted house) and I realized that I was not as tough as I thought I was.
ReplyDeleteWithin the first few minutes I tripped over something and had a zombie crawling on top of me while I screamed, rather than shot, and my partner had to shoot them off. I think I learned my lesson quickly, and do not intend to make that mistake in the future.
Later, my gun stopped working half way through one of the sections and I almost smashed someone's face in with it when they jumped out at me. I apologized for hitting them and kept going. Haha. A really zombie would have been done for.
Anyway, I was glad that my partner came back for me when I fell. Shows a lot about his character, since there was a lot at stake.
